I agree with everyone and their reason why they don't like the name change. Maybe we should write the company. It probably will not change the fact but I am a firm believer in letting your voices be heard!
AGT23 looks nothing like my daughter. She is blond, blue-eyed and has Shirley Temple curls. They have a curley head AGT but I don't think she has blue-eyes. I know one time I order and suggested they create a curly head blue-eye AGT.

Well, if they're going to call it "Just Like You," they'd better come out with some new dolls, because none of them looks like me or DD. I look like a blue-eyed Kailey, and DD looks like a blue-eyed 24.

I personally don't care what the line is called. Just because the line is called "Just Like You" doesn't mean that your doll has to be just like you. The line originally had the slogan "She's just like you! You're part or history too!" But that didn't cause me to pick out a doll that really did look like me or have the same personality. But there's no harm in suggesting having a doll that is like them.

Do any of you remember the survey Elizabeth/Liz, I think it was, posted some time back? This is all really ringing a bell! In that survey they had asked girls if they wanted more options and to be able to pick dolls that looked like them . . . they even mentioned poseable dolls. As I read the questions I thought they were definitely leaning toward becoming My Twinn-ish. I don't know if the thread still exists . . . it would be from quite some time ago.

I strongly dislike the change too, for all the reasons mentioned. I was talking to a friend not too long ago and mentioned American Girl dolls. She said "Oh I used to have one of those dolls too! It looked just like me! I got to pick out the hair color and eye color too." Of course I had to tell her she was thinking of "My Twinn" dolls, not American Girl. She was disappointed to discover it wasn't an American Girl doll.
I think it's very distasteful for American Girl to nab a phrase that is used by My Twinn so much. It seems quite underhanded.
Plus, I too agree that American Girl of Today line is the perfect counterpart to the Historical Line. The American Girl of Today is part of history. If AG makes any changes, they should bring back the story-writing booklets that used to come with the dolls so girls can learn to write their own stories.
American Girl doesn't have enough AGT options to claim "she's just like you". They would probably need to add at least two dozen more dolls in order to match their girl market.

I don't like that AG changed the name. None of the dolls look "Just like me" not even AGT #3(my avatar picture). I think it will make little girls feel bad if they can't find a doll that looks exactly like them, has the same clothing taste, etc.
